How to Reduce Acne Scars Caused by Scratching Pimples

Acne scars, caused by scratching and squeezing pimples can make you feel uncomfortable and eat away at your confidence. Your face is important when it comes to communicating with others, and this is why its appearance matters to you so much. There are natural ways you can reduce scars and achieve a better complexion.

Your face is constantly on display, as you greet people with your facial expressions. People also look at when you have a conversation. This is perhaps, why you may be very self-conscious when it comes to the condition of your skin. An uneven skin tone, blemishes and scars caused by scratching pimples can make you feel less confident than you would be if your skin were clear and healthy in appearance.

Many people find that acne they had when they were young resulted in the formation of scars. Attempting to deal with spots by squeezing them, and scratching at uncomfortable acne can leave marks that last a long time into the future.

There are many remedies people claim can lighten skin, and so reduce dark pigmentation caused by pimple scars. However, do not expect miracle results, and treat your skin kindly when attempting them. Trying too many different remedies at once could result in inflamed, red, sore skin if you are not careful.

Lemon juice

Lemon juice is said to lighten skin and reduce the appearance of scaring. Applying pure juice to your scars via a cotton wool pad each morning and before you go to bed at night may help you. Do remember though, that lemon juice can make your skin more sensitive to sunlight, and can also make your skin dry. If you notice any adverse reaction, stop using the juice straight away.

Vitamin E

Many face creams contain vitamin E, which can be healing for your skin, and could help reduce scarring. Cocoa butter moisturizing lotion often has vitamin E added to it, and provides the benefits of making your skin smooth and soft.

Carrot oil has properties which can help with healing scar tissue, and canola oil contains vitamin E, or you can break open a vitamin E capsule and use the oil inside. Emu oil, which, incidentally, is derived from Emu fat, is supposed to be great at helping skin heal, and is sometimes recommended for age spots. Age spots show themselves as brown patches of skin. Wheat Germ oil is said to be good for reducing pimple scars, and stretch marks too.

Honey has antibacterial properties that are excellent for helping keep skin clear. It is also used to lighten dark skin pigmentation, and even hair.

If your acne scars are deep, you may benefit from seeing a dermatologist who can recommend the best professional treatment to suit your skin. However, if you have lighter, smooth pimple scars you may like to try the remedies above. Do be careful not to persevere with any remedy from which you experience an adverse reaction, even if it is made from natural ingredients that sound harmless, and consult a specialist if you are unsure.

Reducing Acne

It could also be helpful to take steps to reduce getting acne before it gets too bad. Always keeping your face clean and as oil free as possible is the first step. Also a change in diet can really help reduce acne from occurring.

It used to be thought that sweets and especially chocolate caused acne, the part about chocolate is partially true. It is the dairy in milk chocolate that causes acne (this does not include real dark chocolate that does not have milk in it). If you can greatly reduce consuming all dairy products, you might notice a huge decrease in acne. This includes milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream and anything that has dairy products in them.

Others foods that should be avoided to reduce acne include:

·        Refined grains and refined sugar such as breads and pasta and other foods made with white refined grains. Sodas and other drinks sweetened with sugar and high fructose corn syrup.

·        Fast food like hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, French fries and any other greasy type foods.

·        Omega6 fat. Too much of the food in the standard American diet has far too much omega-6 fatty acids. This includes all foods that contain canola oil, palm oil, corn oils and soy oil. Look at ingredients and you can see just how many foods contain these oils, try to avoid or limit them.

Healthier Foods

You might be wondering what is left to eat. Eating vegetables, fruits, whole grain foods, and foods that have healthy omega-3 fatty acids like salmon, sardines and other fish are the best to foods to eat.

Lean meats are better than fatty meat, 100% grass fed beef is a good choice.

Probiotics are also helpful. Eating legumes, whole wheat, vegetables and fruits are known as prebiotics and these help the gut develop healthy bacteria. Probiotics promote the growth of healthy bacteria. Probiotics like real Greek yogurt, miso and fermented foods.
